36 | "I am looking for a quote on what type of vessels used in Camps. For example, were bottles used as botas are said to be for travel only?"
Answer Hello,
The bota, made of leather, is indeed used in travel, both slung over the shoulder and hung from saddles. It seems likely that this type of container would be more practical than carrying glass bottles. But this certainly does not mean that botas can only be used 'on the road' for it is shown that they are also used in dwellings and taverns.
I wish you well,
Fogaban

He carried a spear over his left shoulder, balanced by his left hand; from the spear depended a shield, behind the left shoulder, and a helmet; about his right shoulder was slung a pouch, which I gathered must have contained supplies; a bota of liquid, water I assumed, was fastened at his belt, on the left, behind the point at which the scabbard depended from the shoulder belt. He strode singing, smiling, through the tall grass.

Three male house slaves stumbled by, crowned with odorous garlands woven of the Brak Bush. They were passing about a bota of paga and, between dancing and trying to hold one another up, managed to weave unsteadily by. One of them looked at me and from his eyes I judged he may have seen at least three of me and offered me a swig of the bota, which I took. "Kajuralia," said he, nearly falling over backwards, being rescued by one of his fellows, who seemed fortunately to be falling in the opposite direction at the same time.
