The Title of Lady

These are relevant references from the Books where the title of Lady is mentioned.
I make no pronouncements on these matters, but report them as I find them.
Arrive at your own conclusions.

I wish you well,

It was brought to my attention the other day that the title of Lady is reserved only for High Caste Free Women.

In other words, (pick a random name) Tyrisa, a Free Woman of the Caste of Bakers is not entitled to be referred to as Lady Tyrisa.

What do you think?

Is it appropriate to refer to any Free Woman as Lady, regardless of Caste?

Oh! I know! What do the Books tell us? (what a novel idea, referring to the source material)

This list is not meant to be every Low Caste Free Woman referred to as Lady, but I hope it's enough to prove the point.

The point being, if you believe the title of Lady is reserved only for High Caste Free Women, you're wrong.
