Have been searching all kinds of web sites, this web site of Yours has been the Holy Grail for Goreans, but not able to find it here. girls asks for lots of help if You are able to give it! Thanks so much!

Answer

Being taught Gorean knowledge online (as opposed to reading the books yourself) has inherent problems.

With no textbooks, how do you know the Teacher is telling you the truth?

There is no such thing as The Eight Tenants.
Just like there is no such thing as The Three Pillars.

Sure, you can say a lot of things. You can say, and I quote, "These three pillars of civilized Gor are the Home Stone, Caste System and Slavery."

But a different website says, and I quote, "The 'Three Pillars' of Gorean society are described as "Home Stone, Caste System, and "Order of Nature"."

Seems not everyone agrees on what the "Three Pillars" even are.
It could be because the concept of "Three Pillars" is just an onlineism.

I could say the Three Pillars are the City-State, Merchant Law and Personism.

Sure, all six of those things are important features of Gorean society.
But nowhere within the series are any three things held as "Pillars of Civilized Gor".

If we add a couple more, (you pick) maybe the Love Master / Love Slave Relationship and the Authority of the Priest-Kings, we now have 8. The Eight Tenants.

The point is, you can pick any three, or eight, or ten or twelve things, capitalize the words and teach them as necessary to be Gorean.

But doing so does not make it true.

Below are the only three passages where the word Tenet appears.

"What is the Teaching?" I asked.

"That men and women are the same," she said. "That is the central tenet of the Waniyanpi."

"He is from the place called "Earth", too," said Marcus. Marcus, of high caste, was familiar with various tenets of the second knowledge, such things as the roundness of his world, its movement in space, and the existence of other planets. On the other hand he remained skeptical of many of these tenets as he found them offensive to common sense. He was particularly suspicious of the claim that the human species had an extraterrestrial origin, namely, that it did not originate on his own world, Gor.

Often, on my old world, I had been unsure as to how to relate to men, how to behave with them, I mean, really. I was familiar, of course, with the protocols of neuterism, the silly, self-contradictory tenets of unisex, invented by those apparently as innocent of logic as glands, and the pathetic absurdities of "personism," such things, the fictions, the lies, the pretenses, the many tiny, brittle crusts concealing the smoldering depths of difference, of reality, of sexuality within one.
