206 | Greetings, I am trying to find out if there were indeed tarn on the Isle of Cos or if, since they were not generally transported by ship, none existed there.
Thank you in advance for your time!
Answer You ask an interesting question.
There is no reason to believe tarns have flown from the mainland over to Cos, Tyros or any of the smaller islands.
We know this based on this quote:
The tarn is a land bird, and will not fly beyond the sight of land. And even if the tarn could do that, no tarn could make that flight, but would fall exhausted into the sea. They are not sea birds which can rest on the wind, aloft for Ahn, wings spread, not moving, and, if they wished, descend, and rest on the sea itself.

Now, does this mean there are no tarns on Cos, Tyros or any of the smaller islands? Not necessarily. Just because tarns did not fly there on their own does not mean somewhere in the past either adult tarns or tarn eggs were not taken across Tharna to these places.
I cannot prove there are tarns on Cos. But we do know there are now tarns on the Further Islands because of this quote:
"Tarns' eggs were brought west from the continent on the ship of Tersites," I said. "They have now been removed to the camp of tarns, and several have hatched."

I wish you well,
