125 | "do the WAGON PEOPLE also use the word JARL?"
Answer Hello,
The word Jarl does not appear in Book 4, which speaks mostly of the Wagon Peoples. However, there is no reason to believe that they would not refer to
a male of Torvaldsland as a Jarl.
While slaves of the north refer their masters as Jarl, since for all practical purposes the word Jarl is synonymous with Master, the word Jarl more appropriately applies to the leader of a group of men.
Fogaban
"Yes," she said "- my Jarl." To the bond-maid the meanest of the free men of the North is her jarl.

"This is Tarl Red Hair," said the Forkbeard.
"Whose man is he?" asked the man.
"My own," I said.
"Have you no Jarl?" asked the man.
"I am my own Jarl," I said.
