Answer
Certainly, with the necessary finances, someone of any caste could own a business. In fact, the reality is most castes did, from Peasants going into the city to sell their produce to Potters selling their pottery. Now, if the business began to thrive to the point it would sustain more employees, one would imagine the first to get the job would be others of one's own caste. However, due to circumstances, one might hire ones of the Caste of Merchants.
As for quotes . . . no, no not really,
