Master, girl was wondering what is FAE in the Gorean community. thank you Master

Answer

When you first asked this question, I had to contact you privately to find out what FAE means. You answered that FAE means First Among Everyone. I personally, have never heard of such a concept but I hardly hold myself to be knowledgeable in all things considered an alternate lifestyle.

So, we'll reason on this from the Gorean point of view.

Certainly, in the case of Tarl and Kamchak, Kamchak was "first" when it came to being able to spit the furthest. We don't know, but maybe Kamchak was FAE of spitting among all of the Wagon Peoples.

At the Thing, in the year Bosk was in Torvaldsland, Ivar Forkbeard won a talmit for, among other things, climbing the mast. So one could say the Forkbeard was FAE that year for climbing the mast.

In more general terms, an Administrator does not qualify as FAE since Administrators are elected by High Councils. Administrators may have ideas of things to do within the city, but these need to be voted on by the High Council.

Ubars are really the only person, in the Gorean concept, who would come closest to First Among Everyone.

One reason for this is that a Ubar's word is law. A Ubar can sentence one to death or pardon one from a death sentence. Can command walls to be built or torn down. Can appoint people to positions or have them removed from positions.

But how does one become a Ubar? One of two ways.

One is to be appointed by a High Council.

The other is by just claiming to be the Ubar.

However in both cases, the Ubar, being charismatic, is very important, in fact critical, especially when we look at this from the standpoint of being FAE.

In the first case, maybe not so much as he is appointed by a High Council in the time of a crisis. His responsibility is to protect the city by what ever means necessary.

In the second case, without being charismatic, the man dos not stand a chance. For instance, I could claim to be a Ubar and since no one would pay attention to me, it would be meaningless.

Back to the second case, the Ubar can only, possibly, keep the title of Ubar, after the time of crisis has past, by charismatically keeping a substantial portion of the Caste of Warriors under his allegiance.

With this allegiance, the Ubar could hold this title for an indefinite period of time.

Looking back, I doubt seriously, any of all of that comes close to explaining your original question.

In my opinion, no, FAE has no place within the Gorean concept.
