Requests 1-173 were asked and answered back when there were only 25 books.

Good question.
But all the research has been done for you. All you have to do is look. It literally took me longer to write out this answer than it took me to find it.
First I went to Plants and searched for the word sugar. Nope, nothing there. So that rules out sugar cane or sugar beets or any other plant description mentioning sugar.
Then I went to Food and Drink, clicked on Full Alphabetical List and then scrolled down until I could click on Sugar.
Now I can read all the quotes which specifically mention sugar.
In doing so I find no reference to the origin of sugar.
Still, a good question.
