 Q #  Question

The debate goes....IS red hair native to Gor? I vaguely recall something in the books about it not being native to Gor, and thus Girls with Red hair were somewhat prized as slaves.

Answer

To begin with, I am not sure what you mean by "native to Gor".
If you think about it, since the Priest-Kings imported all the humans, nothing human related is "native to Gor".

But, to answer the other question of red hair I went to this page here at ~The Gorean Cave~, Hair.

I then scrolled down and found, under the headings of Female and Color, the subheadings of Red, Reddish Brown, Brightly Red and Very Red.

Not sure if this is the quote you remember but this one says red hair is rare in the Barrens. Evidently red hair is not that rare elsewhere on Gor

He was lifting her sheen of red hair on the point of his lance, moving it in the sun, to see it glisten and reflect the light. He was curious as to such hair. It is extremely rare in the Barrens.

Since these are all the quotes which speak about red hair, none of them even hint that red hair is not native to Gor.

As far as being prized, perhaps you are thinking of auburn hair.
Here are just two quotes from the section under auburn hair:

Auburn hair is generally thought to be the most prized hair on Gor, but I myself generally prefer brunets. This is not to deny that blondes, suitably enslaved, and desperate to please, are not without interest. Blondes sometimes bring higher prices as their hair color is rarer, but once they are home, in the collar, they are, of course, no more than any other slave.

I walked slowly behind the Lady Florence. She knelt straight. "Your own hair," I said, "is a rich auburn."

"Yes," she said.

"Such hair," I said, "is very unusual."

"I am fond of my hair," she said.

"You might well be," I said. "Such hair would be the envy of many slave girls."

"You need not speak of it that way," she said.

"Did you know that auburn hair is highly prized in the slave markets?" I asked.
