![]() WeeksThis is my narrative and relevant references from the Books where Weeks are mentioned. I make no pronouncements on these matters, but report them as I find them. Arrive at your own conclusions. I wish you well, Fogaban Weeks, on Gor, are not named. They are simply referred to numerically as first, second, third, fourth or fifth. A week consists of five days. And there are five such weeks in a Gorean month. Following the five weeks is another five day period called a Passage Hand. The Passage Hand is not just another week of the month but a separate five day period. There is no reference to a week being called a Hand. If you refer to a week as a Hand, you are wrong. ![]() At the end of the year there is one more separate five day period called the Waiting Hand. This amounts to 73 'weeks' or 5 day periods. 12 months of 5 weeks each, plus 12 Passage Hands, plus one Waiting Hand. 12 x 5 + 12 + 1 = 73 The Gorean week consists of five days. Each month consists of five such weeks. Following each month, of which there are twelve, separating them, is a five-day Passage Hand. The twelfth Passage Hand is followed by the Waiting Hand, a five-day period prior to the vernal equinox, which marks the Gorean New Year. Tribesmen of Gor Book 10 Page 26 There are twelve twenty-five day Gorean months, incidentally, in most of the calendars of the various cities. Each month, containing five five-day weeks, is separated by a five-day period, called the Passage Hand, from every other month, there being one exception to this, which is that the last month of the year is separated from the first month of the year, which begins with the Vernal Equinox, not only by a Passage Hand, but by another five-day period called the Waiting Hand Assassin of Gor Book 5 Page 78 The date of the Kajuralia, however, differs. Many cities celebrate it on the last day of the Twelfth Passage Hand, the day before the beginning of the Waiting Hand; in Ar, however, and certain other cities, it is celebrated on the last day of the fifth month, which is the day preceding the Love Feast. Assassin of Gor Book 5 Page 229 No troupe is permitted to perform within a city unless it has a license. These licenses usually run for the five days of a Gorean week. Players of Gor Book 20 Page 11 The passage hands and the waiting hand are five days each. A Gorean month consists of five five-day weeks. Swordsmen of Gor Book 29 Page 465 It was the second week past the eighth passage hand. Mariners of Gor Book 30 Page 114 It was now the fifth week following the Eighth Passage Hand. Tomorrow would be the first day of the Ninth Passage Hand, Mariners of Gor Book 30 Page 129 It was the third month, the first week past the second passage hand. Mariners of Gor Book 30 Page 195 I will report one part of a conversation heard the evening of the day of the altercation in the vicinity of the warning ship, which altercation took place on the second day of the second week past the fourth passage hand, as it has some bearing on what occurred later. Mariners of Gor Book 30 Page 265 My conversation with Tarl Cabot, alluded to earlier, having to do with the fleet of Lord Yamada, and such, had occurred on the third day of the fifth week past the fourth passage hand. It was now four days later, the second day of the fifth passage hand. Mariners of Gor Book 30 Page 286 Sometimes a standing permission to speak is revoked for a few Ahn or a day, or even a week, that she may be the better conscious that permission is required, and need not be granted.
