 Are you a slave? by Fogaban Are you a slave? Wait, don't be so quick to answer. Because the answer isn't that simple. It really depends on several things. Who is asking the question? Is that person a Gorean Male, one of your close friends, or perhaps one of your relatives? To truly understand, to truly be able to answer, there is only one person's answer that really matters, Yours. However, I shall back up a little first. Two common definitions of slavery and slave: "Slavery is a form of forced labor in which people are considered to be the property of others."These definitions are, on face value and to the modern western world, cruel and inhuman. And yet another authority on the matter says: "The most complete and perfect institution for the total domination of a woman is that of female slavery," I said. Certainly, there is a huge difference. How do you reconcile these two definitions? Reason with me now. As I begin to narrow my explanation we will wave off the common definitions of the western world. For this is not the slave about which I speak. Consider though, the BDSM slave. Some deem this type of slave as someone who simply considers themselves to be one, while others believe is has to do more with TPE or Total Power Exchange. And now we will ponder on the Gorean slave. Think now, ask yourself these questions . . . Is it the physicality of being slave, actually serving, which make a girl slave? Or is it the mental and emotional aspects of serving that makes a girl slave? Does serving make a girl a slave? Or is serving just an expression of her slavery? Many will state that they are not happy unless in service. If that is the case. If they were not happy serving others would they be a slave? In today's society it all comes down to consensuality. In the end, if the girl decides not to submit, and decides to revoke her submission it is up to her. Is there a way, which the Master can control even this? Is it possible to really have the complete control of a girl with or without her consent? Can this happen and still have a lively, thoughtful slave and not a doormat? I will tell you yes, I have witnessed it with my own eyes. Yes, a girl needs to be in control of herself to an extent. But when and how does she know that extent has been reached? Not rocket science.. do all these things come naturally? Why does a girl not know what should be natural and what should not be natural? Natural being a non learned trait. Is there such a thing as natural? In the books, slavery comes across being mostly either a really happy thing or a really bad thing. It was either wanted or not wanted. Is there an in-between? Can a girl have contentment and still be a good slave? Or can contentment lead to complacency? What can be done to keep this from happening? Does a girl always have to strive to be bigger and better in her slavery for herself and her Master? Or can she just 'be', and have happiness? Can a girl love other Masters and still love her Master? Will he still love her if she does? Is it okay for girl to have expectations? When do they turn from expectations to assumptions? How should she handle it when her expectations have either been meet or have been proven to be wrong? Once she has re-evaluated her expectations what should she keep in mind when making new ones? Can expectations be detrimental? Can they be a downfall? How can a girl learn not to worry? How can a girl learn to let her fear go? There were no right or wrong answers to those questions. And, in fact, the answers will have been different for every other person that reads this. And, that's ok. Because, in the final analysis, what really determines if you are a slave is simply this . . . who do you see when you look in the mirror? Slavery cannot be taught. No one can make you a slave. Slavery must be known, it must felt. You are the one that must answer. And you only need answer to yourself. So, are you a slave? |
