Are you referring to the Swamp Spiders?

Approaching me, stepping daintily for all its bulk, prancing over the strands, came one of the Swamp Spiders of Gor.
Tarnsman of Gor Book 1 Page 81

In fact, Chapter 6 of Tarnsman of Gor is entitled Nar the Spider.
