I am Fogaban

Who is Fogaban?

Well, I was born in Chicago Illinois in January of 1960.
I grew up on the west side of Illinois. I then have lived in Denver Colorado, Seattle Washington, and for most of my life, in a small town in Northeast Alabama. Currently I reside in Detroit, Michigan.

In 1975, a friend gave me eight books of a series he had read. He thought I might like them too. I started with the first book and soon had finished all of them, mesmerized by the content. A few months later I found a brand new edition to the series, Book 9, Marauders Of Gor. It seems this writer was still publishing! I, of course, bought it immediately. Over the following years I purchased every next issue, usually the very day it hit the shelves.

By the time Book 13 came out in 1979, I was married. My wife, at the time, also found the books to be of great interest. We both read every new book as it was released, through number 25 in June of 1988, and she was certainly every bit the free woman.

Flash forward to the spring of 1998. Now divorced and having excepted a transfer with my job to Detroit, I found myself alone. The two most important things I had kept were my Gor series and my computer, in that order.

I had been chatting online already for two years but thus far in rooms with no real purpose. After getting my computer reconnected in Detroit, I wanted to start over. I wanted something that had real meaning.

I happened upon Yahoo chat and found rooms with a Gorean theme. Even though Yahoo-Gor has its share of players, I found people there who felt strongly about Gor and living the Gorean lifestyle.

I think of the computer as simply a means of communication, not a world of its own. In other words, I don’t click into chat and play a role, and then, when I log off, to go back to "real life".

To me, this IS real life. You will never hear me define time away from my desk as "r/l". I am either online or offline. No different than being on the phone or not on the phone. It is all real.

Over the past few years I have personally met many other Goreans who take it seriously. One lived not very far from me. His name is Caprus. We met many times, sharing food, drink and good conversation, deep thoughts and trivial laughter. At the conclusion of one visit, in the wee hours of October 31st, 1999, while standing in my yard and saying goodbye, a profound thing happened. Without advanced thought, I was compelled to reach down and pull a handful of grass and earth from the ground, which I then held out to him. Our hands met and held this together. Half of that clump still resides next to my personal Home Stone, the other half with Caprus. The bond we share is greater than words can express. To me he is a brother more than blood.

On December 10th, 1999 I collared a girl online and gave her the name pearl. Although she was living over 2,000 miles away, at that time, she became mine. On April 17th, 2001, I placed a tangible ring of steel around her neck. I was able to do this because she had just arrived to begin living in my home. To me, and her, being separated by many miles or just in the other room, does not affect that I am her Master and she is my slave.

I have also had experience with two slaves in the house. On January 18th, 2001, I collared another girl and named her lynda. A little over a year later, on February 28th, 2002 I released her.

So, now I own pearl, online, offline, fulltime and for real. A claim of being Gorean online and actually living the Gorean lifestyle offline are two different things. It is easy to claim to be something that you have only read about or heard about. It is something else when it doesn't go away with a click of the little x in the corner of the screen.

I am responsible for the welfare and safekeeping of another life, 24 hours a day. My girl wears a collar 24 hours a day. She lives in my house and serves my every whim. Yes, there have been difficulties, but there are tremendous rewards. I will never go back to live as I did once before.

I wish you well,
